I had an interesting occurrence today, one that I thought I would share with you, and it might just get you thinking about how you thank someone. So the story starts something like this. A neighbor of mine had come over to my house during the holidays, during which we started talking about our health for the coming new year. As it turned out, he asked for my recommendation on a dentist, which I gladly gave him because I've been with my dentist for years. So the other day, my neighbor returns from the dentist and tells me that the dentist told him to thank me. Which at first sounds pretty nice right? Well it is, but think of how much further he could have taken it.
What if my dentist were to use Send Out Cards to send me a thank you and then maybe a gift to go along with it. Imagine the feeling I would have had once I received an unexpected card and gift. Imagine my delight in referring the next acquaintance to him, imagine my surprise for doing something that I would have done anyway. He could have totally brightened my day.
Now I'm not suggesting that my dentist is a bad guy, nor would I stop referring people to him, but it points out the fact that simple tokens of appreciation can go a very long way. We are in the business of building relationships, and making sure those relationships stay with you for life. The only way I know to establish and keep solid relationships is to cultivate those relationships by showing others that you genuinely care. Luckily for me, I now have a tool that allows me to do just that.
Think about the people you know, and then think about the last time you thanked them for something. Now think about how you might be able to thank them the next time they are on your mind.
